Moving plan for school and pre-school

At their meeting this week the governors discussed the plan for packing up and moving into the new school in a few short weeks the headlines of the plan are below if you have any questions do contact the school office.

Over the next few weeks from lofts to sheds the old school is being prepared for packing up with labels put on furniture and equipment that is to be moved. At the same time facilities and utilities are being changed over on the right dates, such as putting in the broadband into the new school and closing down on the current site

 

On the new school site the final touches are being done ready for the arrival of new furniture for classrooms, offices and break out rooms. Whilst outside the school we are looking forward to Somerset Highways Department putting in the new crossing and kerbing.

Tuesday 24th May: Is the last day for pupils in the current school and pre-school after a 140  years.  A good bye and thank you party is planned for the afternoon for children organised by the staff.

Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th May: School closed to pupils and pre-school children for final packing up and move to new school

Monday 30th May to Friday 3rd June Whitsun half term holiday

Monday 6   and Tuesday 7 June: School closed to pupils and pre-school to allow for unpacking and setting up of school ready for the children

Wednesday 8th June: First day for pupils and pre-school children at the new school.  It will include an afternoon tea party as part of the village ‘red, white and blue’ theme celebrations for the Queen’s 90 Birthday, organised by the PTA.

The party will include song and dance by the children and a special book presentation by members of the village. Parents are warmly invited with more details to come on school newsletter of final arrangements and times, pop the date in your diary.

This day will also be when the pre-school formally merges with the school to be part of the purpose built foundation unit (pre-school and reception class) and come under the management of the school leadership team and governors.

For the rest of the term enjoying getting to know and work in the new school making the most of the new facilities and environment.

Exciting times with much to look forward to.
