Our aim is to provide a range of fun activities that are based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which encompasses seven different areas of learning:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
Every term our staff spend time carefully planning activities which will provide a stimulating and challenging environment for children of all ages and abilities. As well as having free time to play and choose their own toys children are also encouraged to participate in structured adult-led activities.
Our outside area features an all weather surface as well as sand and water play, bikes, scooters and cars, building with blocks, slides and lots of other fun activities and resources.
We constantly vary the activities in the main classroom so that as as part of covering the seven areas of learning we provide painting, cooking, access to IT equipment, music and story based activities, and visitors from the local community come in to talk about what they do. We also go on trips out into the village to explore our surroundings.
Every child at Countess Gytha Preschool has their own Key Worker who works closely with them to support their learning and record their developmental progress. You will be invited to regular meetings with your child’s Key Worker to discuss their progress and find out more about their achievements at preschool.
As your child grows it is important that they are encouraged to build their independence and at Countess Gytha Preschool we know how important it is to provide a safe and supportive environment in which to do this. Children have access to their own drink at any time of the day and whilst we have nappy changing facilities we also help children to build their independent toilet skills once they are ready.
