22/4/26 - Field to Farm School Trip

Our recent visit to the Field to Farm event at the Bath and West Showground was an unforgettable and enriching experience for all involved. Throughout the day, the children explored the journey of food from farm to plate, gaining a deeper understanding of where their food comes from and the importance of sustainable countryside practices.

The children took part in a wide range of hands-on activities, including learning about bird boxes, hedge weaving, and how we can help protect the natural environment. A particular highlight was the opportunity to climb into tractors and combine harvesters, giving everyone a real sense of modern farming machinery in action.

We also enjoyed a fascinating gun dog training demonstration and discovered more about the different types of deer found in the UK, even sampling some venison. Pupils had great fun making their own butter, tasting a selection of delicious cheeses, and comparing whole, semi-skimmed, and skimmed milk while learning about their differences.

The day continued with a sheep shearing demonstration, where pupils could feel and compare different types of wool. To round off a fantastic day, we enjoyed tasting a delicious yoghurt from Yeo Valley.

It was truly an amazing and educational trip that brought learning to life in a memorable and engaging way.

    2/4/26 - Easter Egg Hunt

The children had great fun taking part in an exciting Easter egg hunt, with treats hidden all around the school grounds. There was a wonderful sense of excitement as pupils searched high and low, working together to find the hidden eggs.

A huge thank you to our PTFA for their kind donation, which made this special activity possible and added to the joy of the last day of the Spring Term.

    1/4/26 - Easter Service

We attended church today for our annual Easter service, which was a lovely and reflective experience for all. We also came together to share meaningful Easter messages, helping everyone to understand the importance of this special time of year.

    20/3/26 - Red Nose Day

The children had a fantastic time celebrating Red Nose Day at school, arriving in a sea of red and a wonderfully creative mix of silly outfits. The day was filled with fun and laughter, including a range of exciting activities such as “Taskmaster” style challenges that had everyone thinking creatively and working together.

We are incredibly grateful to our school community for their generosity and enthusiasm. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make the day such a success while supporting an important cause.

    6/3/26 - World Book Day

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day at school! Pupils arrived dressed as their favourite book characters and brought along much-loved stories to share with their classmates. During the day, everyone enjoyed taking part in a book swap, giving old favourites a new home and discovering exciting new reads.

Our Reading Café was a cosy highlight, where children relaxed with their books while enjoying some delicious biscuits. We were also lucky to join a live author event with Emily Hourican, where pupils helped solve a thrilling mystery set in The Ivy Hotel.

Creativity was in full swing as students designed their own colourful bookmarks and wrote thoughtful book reviews to recommend stories to their friends. It was a wonderful day celebrating the joy of reading and sharing our love of books together. 📚✨

    2/3/26 - Art

In Art, we have begun an exciting new unit on Pointillism, exploring the work of the renowned artist Georges Seurat and the wider Impressionist period of art history. The children have been inspired to experiment with this technique, carefully applying dots of colour to create their very own pointillist artworks. Their creativity and attention to detail have been fantastic to see!

25/2/26 - Ancient Egypt Topic Day

Today, our classroom was transformed as we stepped back in time to the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt! The children arrived in wonderful costumes, dressing as powerful pharaohs, magnificent gods and goddesses, mysterious mummies, and hardworking Egyptian farmers. It was fantastic to see such creativity and enthusiasm on display.

Throughout the day, we immersed ourselves in hands-on learning. The children took part in an exciting “Crack the Hieroglyphic Code” activity, racing around the school to solve clues and decipher ancient symbols. They also designed and played traditional Egyptian board games, including the popular game of Senet, just as people would have done thousands of years ago.

In addition, we followed a traditional Egyptian flatbread recipe, enjoying our freshly made bread dipped in delicious local honey. The children also had the opportunity to explore and taste other traditional foods from the era, deepening their understanding of daily life in ancient times.

Overall, it was a truly enriching day that brought our learning about Ancient Egypt to life. The children’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity made it a memorable experience for all!
