Language Ambassadors

Meet Our New Language Ambassadors for 2025/2026!

We’re proud to introduce our brand new  Language Ambassadors  at Countess Gytha

These enthusiastic pupils have been chosen from across upper KS2 to help celebrate and promote the joy of language learning. Whether it's supporting classmates in lessons, helping with language-themed events, or encouraging everyone to use new words and phrases from around the world, our ambassadors are ready to lead the way!

What do our Language Ambassadors do?

Our ambassadors will:

  • Champion the importance of learning languages

  • Encourage the use of greetings in different languages around school

  • Help with international projects and pen-pal letters

  • Support pronunciation and vocabulary games in class

  • Take part in special events like European Day of Languages and International Week

  • Share fun facts and language tips in assemblies and displays

This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for our pupils, and a great way to build confidence, communication skills, and global awareness.

We’re very excited to see the positive impact they’ll have across the school. Congratulations to our new Language Ambassadors — you're already doing a brilliant job!

Celebrating Chinese New Year

Each year, our school comes together to celebrate Chinese New Year with colour, creativity and community spirit.

A highlight of our celebrations is our magnificent dragon, which was carefully created by pupils in a previous year. This special piece has become an important part of our school tradition and is proudly brought out each year for the festivities.

Children take part in a lively dragon dance, working together to bring the dragon to life through movement and teamwork. The parade takes place at the start of the school day, where pupils perform in front of their peers as well as parents and families arriving at school. It is always a joyful and memorable moment, filled with excitement, music and celebration.

This annual event not only allows children to experience an important cultural tradition, but also helps to build confidence, cooperation and a strong sense of community within our school.

We are very proud to continue this tradition and look forward to celebrating again next year!

Welcome to our Language Learning Page 2025

This page is led by our Language Ambassadors.

Countess Gytha Primary have 6 Language Ambassadors at present. They are very busy helping to promote and celebrate languages around our school.

This term, our Language Ambassadors have been busy finding out how many languages are spoken in our school. Did you know that there are over 6 languages spoken in our school community?

It is important that we show respect for each other’s languages and cultures by celebrating and learning more about them.

Our ambassadors have compiled a list of languages they would like to challenge classmates and their families to learn and research each month. They have carefully linked each language to a special celebration happening around the world at that time.

In celebration of our enjoyment of our French lessons in KS2, the language ambassadors have chosen French as our  language of the month!

Who speaks French?

Did you know, there are about 129,000,000 French speakers in the world!

French is an official language in the following countries:
