Environmental Club

We have had a fun session in Environment Club today. We have some new members so we thought about what we would like to do this term, including making our herb tyre beds and bird feeders as well as raising more awareness of plastic pollution. We then went up to the allotment area for a bit of maintenance!

Wow, what a windy and rainy day! We decided to make wind socks in our club tonight, especially as the weather was so bad! We used our socks to work out that the wind was coming from the east!

Today in Environmental Club we planted up some of our new sapling trees. The children planted them in pots to give them a good start, and will look after them ready to be planted into the ground later next year.

Today we had a great time in the allotment planting strawberries and starting to prepare tyres to create our sensory garden.

Today in Environment Club we have created a presentation to explain climate change and COP26. The children will deliver this presentation to the whole school and ask the children to create their promise leaf for our promise tree. Hopefully together we can help to reduce climate change and our carbon footprint.

Today in Environmental Club we have been creating our own comic strips to highlight the problem of plastic on our planet and to raise awareness of plastic and rubbish. The children created some fantastic strips and thought about the different animals plastic pollution has an impact on.

Today we have been learning all about COP 26. The children learnt about the world leaders who are attending the event and what they will be discussing. We thought about how we can have an impact and reduce our carbon footprint to help save our planet. The children were very concerned and have started to create presentations and posters to share with the whole school so that everyone is aware of our planets situation and what we can all do to help.

We have had great fun in Environmental Club this week. We finished tidying our Eco planter and then we filled it with soil and planted some wild flower plants and seeds. The children worked together really well as a team.

This week in Environmental Club we have been tidying up and preparing our eco planter for some wild flowers. We weeded the planter and make it look much more loved! We then started to fill it with soil ready for our wild flowers to be grown. We realised it is going to take a lot of soil to fill our planter!

It has been a very rainy September day today so we have been planning our Environmental Club sign which will hope will contain lots of information about our club and also our market stall designs where we would like to display our produce from the allotment!

In Environmental Club we have been carrying out some maintenance in our allotment area and using the sunflowers to create bird feeders.

We have been very busy in environment club so far this term! We have been making and creating our plans for developing our school allotment area. The children have lots of ideas including a herb patch, wild flower area and underground bug hotel!
