FAQs

What age do you take children from?

We have recently made arrangements to take children from the age of two. We ensure that the activities we provide for the children are able to challenge children of varying abilities and ages so that whatever the age of your child they will find something to excite and challenge them at the preschool. We do have a limited number of two year old places available but will always try to accomodate children where possible.

Do the children get to spend time outside of the classroom?

We operate a free flow system which allows children access to our outside area during most of the day, excluding the times when parents are dropping off and picking up children in order to minimise risk to the children. Our outside area has been recently revamped with a new artificial grass surface, a new climbing frame and plenty of sand, water and ride on toys to let them blow off steam.

We also have two sessions a week in the school hall which give the children time to run around, create and use some exciting obstacle courses using our new wooden blocks or join in song and dance sessions. We also go out on nature walks in the local area and have even had our local PCSO visit to talk to the children about road safety.

What should I do if my child is ill?

To reduce the risk of infection to children and staff, please do not bring your child to Pre-School if they have been sick, had diarrhoea in the previous 48 hours or are suffering from conjunctivitus. In line with our fees policy sessions missed by your child due to illness will still be chargeable. Please call the preschool on 07989 613802 to let us know your child will not be attending.

If your child becomes ill whilst they are at pre school we will contact you to discuss the best course of action.  As part of the enrolment process we will collect key contacts for your child including GP details.

Will I still be charged if my child misses a session due to holiday?

In line with our fees policy we are unable to refund fees for missed sessions as we have to ensure a certain level of staffing based on your child’s regular attendance.  Please contact the preschool on 07989 613802 or email wendy@queencamelpreschool.co.uk to let us know if your child will be missing a session.

Can I join a session to see what goes on?

Parents/carers are very welcome to join us – these sessions can be very rewarding. Please speak to a member of staff if you are interested.  Any trips, events or activities that are organised always benefit from extra help from parents and carers so please consider joining us at our next event!

(Confidentiality exercised by staff is also required by the parent helper).

How can I find out more?

If you are interested in finding out more about our preschool and whether it is the right environment for your child please feel free to drop in at any time to speak to the staff or meet with the committee- email us at info@queencamelpreschool.co.uk to let us know when you would like to stop by so we can make sure a member of staff is available.

If you would like to enrol your child please call us on 07989 613802 or email us at info@queencamelpreschool.co.uk and we can arrange a trial session for you to accompany your child prior to them starting with us. We hope this will make your child’s transition to preschool comfortable for you both but of course if you would like to pop in and see a session in progress we would be very happy to see you.

How can I get more involved in the preschool?

We are a committee run charity and the committee is staffed by volunteers from parents of children in the preschool and people from the local community. Without a core committee we cannot continue to run as a charity so if you would like to get involved email us at committee@queencamelpreschool.co.uk and we will find you an exciting job to do!
